What is Organic?

Organic has come to mean products and produce grown in a sustainable, environmentally friendly way. You can identify them with certification marks, Biogro or AsureQuality, so you know the food is from New Zealand and has been independently audited and certified as organic.

While these certifications have slightly different standards, both emphasise environmentally sound production, and exclude the use of synthetic fertiliser, pesticide, growth regulators and livestock feed, and genetically modified organisms.

Introducing Sustainable Living at OrganicDirect

Whilst OrganicDirect was created to showcase all things organic, we believe that Organic and Sustainability go hand in hand so now we also support businesses that are encouraging us all to reduce our impact on the environment.

Together we can make a difference...

Whether it's media attention that makes us reach for free range eggs, or greater availability of allergy-free alternatives, or economic strain that encourages us to cultivate a veggie patch in our backyard, we are more aware of our food and environmental choices than ever before.

The American Culinary Federation have voted 'organic' as one of the hottest food trends for 2010 so it's no wonder that reports from all over the world that have tipped Organics to be one of the main industries of opportunity for 2010.

Consumer demand eventually results in greater product choices and competitive pricing. Making the conscious decision to purchase sustainable and organic products now will pave the way for a brighter future for us all.

OrganicDirect have access to a wide range of products to help you make organic and sustainable choices every day. Wine from organically grown grapes, produced on biodynamic vineyards, organic coffee, oil, vinegar, juice. Weekend getaways. Chemical-free personal products, pillows. Recycling systems, water filters, garden products. Food & produce galore - even for those with gluten intolerances and allergies.
