Bokashi NZ is changing the colour of the 10 and 15 litre Bokashi buckets to black.
We are often asked if our Bokashi buckets are recyclable. After consulting our manufacturer, we were advised that although they are made out of a material that can be recycled, they were not made out of existing plastic waste. However, they also added that they could manufacture buckets specifically for us out of 'regrinds'. These new buckets would then be classified as recylable-recycled plastic and would still maintain the same high quality finish but would have to be in black.
The case was put to our marketing people who greeted the idea with enthusiasm and, on further investigation have identified a number of benefits arising from the change.
1. Improved sustainability rating on Greenlist website: www.greenlist.co.nz
2. Better heat retention as black adsorbs warmth rather than reflecting it, meaning a faster fermentation rate
3. More frequent ‘juice-extract’ removal preventing malodours!
4. Improved décor in the modern kitchen
5. Bokashi NZ will have specific Intellectual Property rights over the black bucket.
6. Easily identifiable! Only genuine Bokashi buckets are black!
7. Environmentally friendly - the new black bucket is exclusive to Bokashi!
