Silver award for Best Organic Blend 2004 NZ Coffee Competition and Festival Coffee La La is a boutique, artisan coffee roasting business established by us on the Coromandel Peninsula in a secluded bush clad valley, in 2002. We are proud to have won two awards in the New Zealand Coffee Festival and Competition 2004 where 44 other roasting houses competed, the Silver award for ‘Best Organic Blend’ and the Bronze for ‘Best Flat White Blend’. Our organic blend is fair trade.

This success can be credited to our approach which begins with careful attention to the origins of our beans and an understanding of the potential and individual character of each.
Our 100% Arabica beans are sourced globally from the World’s best plantations and roasted with individual care.
This is the secret to creating premium coffee and the basis of our philosophy here at Coffee LaLa. Twenty kilogram of green beans are roasted in single origin batches before blending. The result of single origin roasting is that each bean type can be brought to its maximum expression. This sensitivity is not possible in pre-blended roasts where all the origins are roasted in one batch. Blending three or four of these ‘maximised’ origins creates is a delicious synergy of flavour and character, sophisticated, rich and indisputably full bodied.
 We sell to selected cafes, small grocery stores and delicatessens, (never want to be a supermarket shelf item) and have a growing A list of home and office LaLa lovers. Our record system helps us keep track of our customer’s wishes and we take their comments seriously. To this end we can even tweak a blend to meet individual likes, some like it “darker” some a “little milder”, its up to them to tell us. It is a welcome creative challenge to please our customers and to provide a high quality personalised service. We roast up to 5 times a week and most coffee parcels arrive at their destinations a day or two after they leave us at the roasting shed. Coffee is better brewed immediately after it is ground so we recommend you obtain a home or office grinder, however we can grind to suit your needs also.
